Aujourd'hui 29 Novembre, une jeune tigresse du territoire de Khabarovsk a été capturée et envoyée dans un centre de réhabilitation des animaux sauvages de cette région. Elle est probablement impliquée, pour des raisons inconnues à ce jour mais qui semblent n'avoir aucun rapport avec sa santé ou ses capacités, dans la mort, le 30 octobre dernier, d'un homme de 43 ans qui récoltait des pignons de pin dans le secteur. L'animal a vraisemblablement, aussi, tué des chiens dans un village proche. Si la tigresse est bien impliquée dans la mort du collecteur, elle ne sera jamais remise en liberté.

On 29 November, a female Amur tiger was captured in the Bikinsky District by the conflict resolution group of the wildlife committee at the Khabarovsk Territory’s Ministry of Natural Resources. The tigress might be responsible for a tragedy that occurred in late October and led to the death of a man.
Now specialists will have to find out if the tigress could have attacked a man and dogs. “It’s most likely that the tigress will be blamed for the disappearance of dogs from the village of Svetlogorye,” said Sergei Aramilev, general director of the Amur Tiger Centre. “Whether the tigress attacked a man will only be known after carrying out a comparative examination of the hair and other biological products that were detected at the scene of the incident and those taken from the tigress.”
For the time being, the tigress has been taken to the Utyos Wildlife Rehabilitation Centre. If there is enough proof that she attacked a man, she will not be released back into the wild.
“The fast-response team has acted professionally,” said Khabarovsk Territory Minister of Natural Resources Alexander Yermolin. “Our main task was to keep the population in the Bikinsky District safe and, second, to comply with the recommendations of the Federal Service for Supervision of Natural Resources [Rosprirodnadzor]. We’ve delivered on both tasks, and we believe that now that the tigress has been captured, people will be safe. Next, we need to see why the predator attacked a human and continue monitoring the situation in the district just to be on the safe side.”

Plus au Sud (territoire du Primorjé), il y a près de 20 ans aujourd'hui (le 3 décembre 1997), un tigre avait tué un chasseur de 46 ans, Vladimir Markov. Celui ci avait volé le cerf que le prédateur avait dissimulé sous des branches après l'avoir tué. Le félin s'était alors rendu à la résidence vide du voleur, et avait attendu son retour. Il s'était alors acharné sur lui et avait dispersé ses restes sur 1km2. L'animal terrifia la région puis fut abattu le 21 décembre de la même année. Cette histoire tragique où hommes et tigres désespérés entrent en compétition pour la survie immédiate dans un pays en chaos et morcellement avait eu un immense retentissement et fut le point de départ du sauvetage in extremis des populations de tigres de l'Amour, de la reconstruction de la Russie et de la constitution de la première culture européenne du tigre dans l'Histoire. En 2010, John Vaillant consacra à cet épisode un livre bouleversant : "The Tiger. A story of revenge and survival".
